What are folklore sessions?
One of the most magical parts of Scotland is that it is a country rich in folklore. Everywhere you turn, there is a piece of history waiting to be uncovered, and a story waiting to be told. The Folklore Sessions are designed to weave your unique story into the breathtaking history of the Caledonian landscape.
Because every person’s history is entirely their own, no two sessions are ever the same. Scotland is full of magical locations, from ancient castles and breathtaking valleys, to stunning beaches and history-soaked cities. If you have an idea in your mind of the type of backdrop you would like, Scotland can almost certainly provide what you are looking for.
Whichever season of life you are currently in, you deserve to have your story captured, and your vision created in a respectful and beautiful way.
There is no story that does not deserve to be immortalised.
How I Work
Your photography experience should be a comfortable, upbeat, and memorable time, focusing on the genuine connection you share with your loved ones.
As we will have planned the details of your vision prior to the shoot, the day itself is simply about being present. When we meet on location, we will take our time easing into the landscape, taking a breath, and letting the experience unfold.
In secluded locations, we can play a playlist of your favorite music so you can relax, explore the terrain, or just be entirely present with each other, while I capture the unfiltered moments as they happen.
My approach combines authentic, candid storytelling with gentle guidance and a few beautifully posed portraits. This means you’ll receive both the natural, in-between moments and the photographs you will want to hang on your living room wall.
Everyone is different, and I want you to feel completely comfortable. If you’d like plenty of direction, I’ll guide you every step of the way. If you prefer a more relaxed and documentary-style experience, I’m more than happy to sit back, observe, and capture the quiet moments.
Most importantly, this session is about you. Let me know what feels natural, and together we’ll create photographs you will keep forever.
The Folklore Sessions range between 1 and 4 hours and they are fully customizable, meaning we can work together to build a package that suits your needs.
Being based in central Scotland, we have easy access to the entire country and are more than happy to travel.
You do not need to have everything figured out before you reach out, I can provide advice and guidance on locations, outfits, styling, and more. Just ask and I’d be happy to help.
